A huge crash in the Forumla One season-opening race today is a reminder of just how dangerous the sport can be, but also serves as a statement on the safety improvements.
Fernando Alonso miraculously walked away from the horror crash at the Australian Formula One Grand Prix which saw his car crumble to pieces.

The driver said he is "lucky to be here" and it really is a miracle he survived.
"I'm happy to be here, it was quite a scary crash," Alonso told Network Ten. Nico Rosberg won the incident-packed race with Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel finishing in the second and third place.
Let's hope there are no crashes at Bahrain on April 3.
