Soldier Calls In Airstrike On Himself When Surrounded By ISIS Fighters To Complete Mission

A Russian special forces officer was killed in Syria after calling in an airstrike on himself as he was surrounded by ISIS soldiers, according to reports.
Russian agencies announced yesterday that the officer was carrying out a special task to direct Russian airstrikes at ISIS targets but was seen and surrounded by the terror group.
In a heroic attempt at killing his enemies, he called in an airstrike on himself knowing it would end his life but help complete his mission.
"The officer was carrying out a combat task in Palmyra area for a week, identifying crucial IS targets and passing exact coordinates for strikes with Russian planes," said an unnamed Russian representative.
"He died as a hero, he drew fire onto himself after being located and surrounded by terrorists."
Moscow has been extremely quiet on soldiers involved in fighting on the ground but on this occasion decided to make a hero of their man.
While it is possible this did happen, it could easily be propaganda following the news ISIS had caught and killed several Russian officers, displaying their remains to the public.
